Exhibit: The Renaissance Portrait at the Metropolitan Museum
The recent exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Renaissance Portrait from Donatello to Bellini, celebrates the first great age of portraiture by focusing on the Italian contribution to this wonderful art form. During the early Renaissance, artists all over Italy were creating beautiful portrayals of the people around them, from scholars and poets to heads of state and church. This exhibit brings together approximately 160 works from artists such as Donatello, Verrocchio, and Pisanelli, which range from paintings to sculpture and bronze medals. Here we have featured a few of our selections from the exhibit, which will be on display at the Metropolitan until March 18th.
