We're thrilled to announce that Monica Rich Kosann's new boutique on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman has opened today. The beautiful shop will feature photography, jewelry, antique frames, candles, and the new stationery collection. Today, Monica shares with us her inspiration for the boutique...
"Have you ever seen the movie The Women? No, not the remake starring Meg Ryan – the 1939 original! It’s a visually delicious Hollywood classic starring Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell, and Joan Crawford. The film is of course a pop of Hollywood glamour, and celebrates the days when women took their time to get dressed and choose their jewelry for the day. The Women was actually the jumping-off point for my new shop on the 7th floor at Bergdorf Goodman, set to open August 1st.
As a black and white photographer, I appreciate both black and white cinematography and photography. I worked with Linda Fargo and the Bergdorf store planning team to create a space with a serene design of crème tones and lush fabrics: I like to think of it as a time capsule that takes people somewhere else. With our new, expanded shop we wanted our own more personal space because our products are so personal. Customers can come and set up an appointment with me to create one-of-a-kind pieces, as well as select pieces for themselves or that special someone.
The shop will feature our 18k gold and sterling silver jewelry, sterling frames, leather frames, image cases, photography, books, one of a kind lockets and rings, and our new collection of “secret” boxes surrounded in lux leathers and gorgeous colors. We’ll also be launching a new stationery line in collaboration with Dempsey & Carroll, as well as our first Carpe Diem candle and a small collection of journals inspired by our Charmed Life jewelry collection. I’m hoping customers will enter ready to be taken somewhere else, and exit with something precious."
