My Favorite Things: Thomas Dunn

My Favorite Things: Thomas Dunn

Overbey and Dunn thrives on a constantly changing, curated environment. The little gem on Christopher Street boasts antique and vintage products that evolve every few months based on the setting that a collaborator or the store creates. Past installations include a gentleman's boudoir, a summer beach cottage and a spring fling. In this sense, Overbey and Dunn is more like a stage, and at its helm is owner Thomas Dunn. We talked to Tom about his favorite things -  and we also can't really get enough of the orange trench coat he's wearing...

Item I own that gets better with age:

My black leather biker jacket.

Most powerful photo I’ve ever seen:

I have a photograph of my grandfather in his flight uniform from World War II that sits on my dresser. Everyone says we would have loved each other; he passed away when I was a toddler. I’m sad I didn’t get to know him. He was the style icon of our family.

Best souvenir I’m glad I brought back home:

My pinky rings from Greece

Smell that makes me feel most nostalgic:

The mix of horse manure and wood chips.

What I’m currently coveting:

A month long vacation.

Best advice I’ve ever received:

“Saying sorry doesn’t mean anything if you keep doing it.”

Music that always takes me back:

Darly Hall & John Oates

Film that I can watch over and over again:

Charade with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant

Favorite family recipe:

Pam’s (Mom’s) Kalua Cake
