Vintage pocket watch keys had long been relegated to the back of bins at antique fairs and if you inherited one, they were hidden in the dark recesses of your jewelry box. As interesting and ornate as many of the originals used to wind men’s pocket watches are, the question has long been how would you wear them and make them look current? I have found many of these pieces while shopping different markets and as you know, I love modernizing pieces from the past and rendering them relevant for our contemporary lifestyles. Inspired by these watch keys, I designed them as charming layering pendants.
Here, I am going for a casual style in a Loro Piana scarf, Zara sweater and my two-tone silver and 18K gold textured oval and rectangular pocket watch key necklace pendants. These work well with my poesy bracelets, which we talked about in our last blog, as well as my vintage Tiffany & Co. watch. You can wear the watch keys as I am in this photo, nonchalantly on long chains with jeans and flat boots. Or you can layer them with other charms and pendants from my collection or your personal collection. You can also wear them with a chic black suit and white shirt or a simple sheath dress. I wear them like this as well.
They are classic and versatile and look good with a range of styles and like all of my other pieces, have a timeless and ageless appeal.
