Today's Read: Vogue & The Metropolitan Museum of Art

When many think of the Met Gala, it's hard to pinpoint just one image. Celebrities posing on the red carpet, a speech from Anna Wintour, fashion greats all in one locale; the list could go on and on. The real mystery though is what goes on behind closed doors...literally. Once the night begins, and the doors are closed, nobody knows what goes on inside. It's nothing like The Oscars, The Grammys or The Golden Globes where the night only begins when the red carpet ends. No, at the Met Gala, the start of the party means the end of our show (which we only see in online images and magazine headlines the day after the festivities). It leaves our minds to roam on the infinite possibilities of what goes on inside; pinnacle performances by Jay-Z and Beyonce, an appearance from Lady Gaga, maybe even an indoor tennis match with Roger Federer...hey, we can dream can't we?

It was a welcome surprise when we found out Vogue's Hamish Bowles was coming out with a book September 23 - Vogue & The Metropolitan Museum of Art — Costume Institute: Parties, Exhibitions, People - where the mysteries of the many past met galas are being divulged. We personally can't wait to peruse all the jewelry through the many years, from Jacqueline Kennedy The White House Years in 2001 through the most recent Charles James exhibit. This is definitely our pick of reads this week...
