Lockets are a foundation of our Monica Rich Kosann fine jewelry collection. They were the first piece of jewelry we ever created, inspired by Monica’s history as a fine art portrait photographer. %expanded-mobile% She created heirloom images of families that could be in their homes for generations, so it was only fitting to create a collection of lockets that might hold small versions of these precious images. At the same time, Monica believed that lockets were ready to be reinvented for a new generation and set out to create a collection that was sexy, contemporary and modern. She had spent many years browsing through antique jewelry fairs and flea markets and took inspiration from the vintage sterling silver lockets she would often come across. Fittingly, silver lockets were among the first styles in our collection, and these were always created by us in sterling silver in order ensure we developed the finest quality pieces.%expanded-desktop%
From the beginning, all of our silver lockets were offered as sterling silver locket necklaces, with carefully chosen short or long chains as part of the styles. Our petite silver lockets are ideal when worn short, as everyday designs that can be worn alone or layered with other short jewelry styles you treasure. The lockets on our longer chains are wonderful as signature, statement pieces that can go with almost anything in your wardrobe. Because sterling silver is a softer metal, we use white gold wire in all of our hinges and clasps to add strength so the pieces can endure for generations. All of our silver styles are also finished with rhodium, a precious metal that allows them to maintain their brilliance and allows you to avoid the need to polish these designs.
