There may not be any other stone that reveals as many visual surprises as an opal. %expanded-mobile%

The stone comes in many variants, and adds a dimension to opal jewelry that can take so many different paths. %expanded-desktop%

Among the most common opal stones might be the crystal opal. It has a milky white color but, is infused with flashes of reds, oranges, blues and greens that can change as one turns the stone or the jewelry piece in which it is set. Another opal, not seen as often, but which we use in our collection is the water opal. It has a translucent appearance, but again is filled with all the same fiery colors as the crystal opal. These colors flash even more brilliantly though as the translucent background brings out the most brilliant fire. Water opals set in an opal necklace can be a truly wonderful sight as it moves with you. The opal birthstone necklaces we offer as part of our “born under the same moon” collection are crystal opals, while both the crystal and water opals are available in our larger Crescent Moon necklaces. These October birthstone necklaces are the perfect gift for anyone enjoying an October birthday. The opal as an October birthstone can also take more luxe and organic forms. The most luxe opal is the black opal, and the highest quality stones are from Australia. The stones have a deeper, darker base color (they are not actually black), but the blues, greens, and reds that emerge from a black opal have no parallel in the world of stones. A more organic opal stone that can take a variety of color directions is the Boulder opal. We have used Boulder opals in rich mixes of aquas and turquoise shades in designs that draw our deep-sea themes, or in dark midnight colors to evoke galactic designs. You will often find black opals or Boulder opals appearing on our High Jewelry page in one of a kind or special edition styles.
