The history of the tennis bracelet begins with a gold tennis bracelet. In 1978, world champion Chris Evert was playing a match on the center court at the U.S. Open in Queens, New York. On her wrist was a gold and diamond line bracelet, which fell off at some point during the match. Play was halted until she found it.%expanded-mobile%

From that moment, the classic diamond line became known as a tennis bracelet, and more specifically as a gold tennis bracelet. These gold diamond tennis bracelets steadily increased in popularity with the 18k gold tennis bracelet becoming the most luxe gold version. For more than four decades gold tennis bracelets would become part of many jewelry collections, but one element was missing. Chris Evert, the world champion whose moment inspired this iconic tennis bracelet category, had never been involved in the creation or design of a collection. In 2022, we at Monica Rich Kosann teamed up with Chris Evert to create a gold diamond tennis bracelet offering. Called The Tennis Bracelet- CE, with the notations Born 1978, Finally Authentic, the collection is offered in 18k gold and Sterling Silver. There are yellow gold tennis bracelet styles and white gold tennis bracelets, but all are offered in 18k gold. This collection of women’s tennis bracelets features distinct design elements that mirror Chris’ recollections of that day. Chris remembered the green court – symbolized by a green emerald on tsavorite stone in every style; the sweat of competition- symbolized by a hanging pear shaped diamond or white sapphire; and the white lines – which of course is where rows of diamonds and white sapphires come into play.
